Polyphenol-Rich Black Elderberry Extract Stimulates Transintestinal Cholesterol Excretion

چکیده

Hypercholesterolemia is the primary risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Recent studies reported that stimulation of transintestinal cholesterol excretion (TICE), a nonbiliary excretion, can be strategy preventing CVD. Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra) has been to reduce CVD via its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hypocholesterolemic effects. However, little known about role black in intestinal metabolism despite well-known effects on homeostasis regulation. To investigate polyphenol-rich extract (BEE) metabolism, we measured expression genes involved biosynthesis flux Caco-2 cells. BEE significantly decreased messenger RNA (mRNA) protein levels absorption, such as Niemann–Pick C1 Like 1 ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1). In contrast, there was marked induction low-density lipoprotein receptor, ABCG5/G8, ABCB1 BEE-treated Furthermore, lipogenesis altered mRNA sirtuins. All by were direction from basolateral apical side enterocytes, indicating TICE. These results support prevention

Regulation of direct transintestinal cholesterol excretion in mice.

Biliary secretion is generally considered to be an obligate step in the pathway of excess cholesterol excretion from the body. We have recently shown that an alternative route exists. Direct transintestinal cholesterol efflux (TICE) contributes significantly to cholesterol removal in mice. Our aim was to investigate whether the activity of this novel pathway can be influenced by dietary factors...

Transintestinal cholesterol excretion is an active metabolic process modulated by PCSK9 and statin involving ABCB1.

OBJECTIVE Transintestinal cholesterol excretion (TICE) is an alternate pathway to hepatobiliary secretion. Our study aimed at identifying molecular mechanisms of TICE. APPROACH AND RESULTS We studied TICE ex vivo in mouse and human intestinal explants, and in vivo after bile diversion and intestinal cannulation in mice. We provide the first evidence that both low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and...

Anti-Atherogenic Activity of Polyphenol-Rich Extract from Bee Pollen

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of polyphenol-rich ethanol extract of bee pollen (EEP) on atherosclerosis induced by a high-fat diet in ApoE-knockout mice. EEP was given with feed in two doses of 0.1 and 1 g/kg body mass (BM). The studies have been conducted in a period of 16 weeks. The following factors were estimated: total cholesterol (TC), oxidized low density lipoproteins...

The Involvement of a Polyphenol-Rich Extract of Black Chokeberry in Oxidative Stress on Experimental Arterial Hypertension

The aim of this study is to characterize the content of Aronia melanocarpa Elliott (black chokeberry) extract and also to estimate the influence of polyphenolic compounds contained in chokeberries on oxidative stress, on an L-NAME-induced experimental model of arterial hypertension. The rat blood pressure values were recorded using a CODA Noninvasive Blood Pressure System. HPLC/DAD coupled with...
